School Cup

What is the School Cup?

The school cup is a team race event allowing teachers & students from various schools to challenge each other in both fundraising and fastest time.

There are incentives for being the winner of either category where your efforts will be
announced at the awards ceremony. Along with the on the day incentives and prizes, if
you win, you’ll also get a trophy giving you and your team official bragging rights!

A team consists of 4 people and your team time will be calculated as the average of the
4 climbers. If you have more than one team the times will be calculated for each team separately.

Last Year

Last year was our first School Cup Event in which teachers from four of the international schools in Tokyo took up the Tower Climb challenge and raised 210,000 yen. On behalf of the TELL board and staff, we would like to say a big thank you to ASIJ, BST, Seisen and St Mary’s for your support and making a difference in the lives of young people in our community. The funding was used to extend our crisis chat service which serves users primarily aged 13- 30 years, many who expressed this was their only means of support.

Why enter the School Cup?

Your experience will include:

  • Team photo

  • School logo on display at the event and on the event website

  • A chance to race, and beat other schools!

  • Trophies for the champions

The entry fee for this category is ¥12,000 per team of 4. Teams are then required to raise a minimum of ¥30,000 per team to be eligible to participate in the challenge.

Once you have registered on our website one of our team members will be in touch.

Fundraising for teams is done through the CrowdRise platform, it’s super quick and easy. Please follow this link to set up your team and share, share, share!

Where will your money go?

TELL is an accredited non-for-profit organization (NPO) with a 46-year history serving the mental health needs of the international and Japanese community in Japan.

TELL operates Japan’s only English-language Lifeline, as well as providing confidential mental health support and counselling services in English and Japanese. Your fundraising support will go toward sustaining our Lifeline services and raising awareness about the most preventable cause of death in the world – suicide.

Half of all mental health problems occur before 14 years of age and according to the WHO one in 3 three university students struggle with mental health issues, but for most young people these conditions go undetected and unsupported. Sadly in Japan youth suicide has been on the rise making access to chat and crisis support essential.

“TELL offer such important support to our community that we were delighted to get involved with the Tower Climb. It was a great bonding experience for the team, there was a lovely atmosphere and somehow we managed to get a trophy! We look forward to this year’s event and the pressure is on to retain the crown of course. I very much recommend
people to join the event: you will have a super time and you’ll be supporting such a good cause!”
